Verification of driving licences via the EU network

In case of any suspicion that the applicant already holds a driving licence, as well as in case of replacement, renewal or exchange of a driving licence issued in an EEA Member State, the competent authority will verify the applicant’s data and the data on issued driving licences with other Member States via the EU driving licences network (RESPER).

If it is established that the applicant for the issuance of a driving licence already holds a driving licence, that is, that the driving licence issued in another EEA Member State is restricted, suspended or withdrawn, the competent authority will issue a decision refusing the application for the issuance of a driving licence.

The competent authority will refuse to recognise the validity of any driving licence issued by another EEA Member State to a person whose driving licence is restricted, suspended or withdrawn in the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

The competent authority may refuse an application for the issuance of a driving licence to a driver whose driving licence is cancelled in another EEA Member State.
